The Nightmare on Kargil Chowk(Fiction, Or maybe not)

Year 2004, Surya Dubey and his family of four, moved into a rented place in the sub-urbs of Raipur. The spacious house, with its grandiose garden and brilliant location seemed immaculate, it was a dead-on catch. And they got this mansion of a house at a very economical rate. The first few weeks were really happy times for the family, everything was A-OK, just brilliant.
Week three, and things got a little uncanny, The grandmother thought she smelt something burning, it felt to her like the smell of a pyre burning, later in the night her bed started shaking. She informed her son Surya of the events of last night, he, being the rational and analytic government official merely ridiculed his mothers inference and brushed off the idea of the presence of something 'supernatural', after all this was the 21st century, ghosts and all did not exist, bah humbug.
Some time passed, nothing happened, things were going hunky-dory. Then one day, the photograph of  Lord Ganesha fell and shattered into pieces. Surya blamed it on the wind, although the window was shut tight. Surya's wife  noticed some red marks on his back, scratches to be precise, he said it might be some rash that he might have caught. Then this one fine day, the child Vedant, who was ten or eleven years old, was watching his favorite show on T.V., Pokemon was the name of the show and it was telecasted at five in the evening, this was the last memory he had when asked by his father who had just pulled the unconscious child from inside a locked closet at 9:30 in the night. The child had been missing for four hours and had no memory of what had happened all this while. The next day , the maid servants daughter started rolling on the floor, screaming and writhing in agony. Every other day Surya would get these pangs to hurt anyone in sight, he'd be filled with this uncontrollable rage for no reason at all. The place had turned into a mad house.

Surya was now perplexed, he had never believed in such superstitions, but he could not deny the fact that eerie things were happening to him and his beloved family. He decided to delve deeper into the matter. He interrogated  the neighbors, the nearby shop owners, and whomever he could ask about the house. He discovered with great horror that no family had ever lived for more than a week in that house after the owners , The 'Khannas' had sold the house, or more precisely stranded the house. They had sold this stupendous house for a mere 12 lakhs, intact with all the coolers, fans, tube lights, the modular kitchen.
Why they had left in such a hurry, no one knew, all that Surya could infer was that his family was in grave danger.
They had lived in the house for more than five months now, and things had become rather ominous, they were calling upon themselves a mortal peril . They decided it was time to pack up and leave! Just run from this place! On the last night of their stay in the house, the whole family slept together, everyone was scared stiff, yet they were content, if anything happens they would at least die together. Late in the night, a loud roar was heard, as if some angry man was expressing his displeasure, as if ordering them not to leave, it was a horrifying noise and everyone was petrified. Fear had gripped all senses, they all huddled up together, desperately trying to pacify each other, clinging to the last bit of hope they had. That was the longest night of their lives, the sun rose, rather crawled up to be precise, and it was a bright day, sunny and serene, birds were chirping, the morning pedestrians were already out for their walks. The nightmare was finally over.

They called a cab, took all their belongings and shifted to a tiny house in a different nook of the colony, that night they slept peacefully. The next day the doorbell rang , the mother rushed out to see who was outside, there was no one in sight, she was terror stricken, all the horrors had returned back to haunt her it seemed, when all of a sudden a child appeared from the side of the front door and asked for his tennis ball. She gasped for air and sighed with relief. She gave the kid his ball and went inside. Her son was asleep on the couch. A feeble smile appeared on her face, they were safe now, good times had finally arrived.
